About the Project:
We are embarking on a comprehensive rehabilitation of an existing power plant to enhance operational efficiency, extend asset life, and comply with updated safety and environmental standards. The project involves mechanical, electrical, and civil works, including equipment replacement, system upgrades, and performance optimization.
Role Overview:
The Project Control Engineer will play a crucial role in planning, monitoring, and controlling all aspects of the project execution. This includes schedule development and tracking, contracts follow up, cost control, risk analysis, and coordination of reporting and documentation to ensure timely and budget-conscious project delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Follow up and maintain detailed project schedules using tools such as Primavera P6 or MS Project.
- Monitor project progress and prepare variance reports against the baseline plan.
- Track and control project costs, forecast cash flow, and flag deviations for corrective action.
- Follow up on contract and purchase order progress, including amendments and modifications.
- Analyze schedule impacts due to scope changes, unforeseen conditions, or contractor delays.
- Assist in developing recovery plans and performance improvement strategies.
- Prepare regular progress reports and presentations for stakeholders and regulatory bodies.
- Coordinate with engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning teams for seamless integration.
- Maintain documentation related to schedule changes, cost variations, and project milestones.
- Support claims analysis and extension of time (EoT) justifications if required.
- Ensure all project control activities align with safety and compliance protocols, especially those specific to the energy sector.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical) or related discipline.
- 10+ years of experience in project controls, with at least 2 years in power or energy sector projects.
- Proficiency in scheduling and cost control software (Primavera P6, MS Project, Excel).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with rehabilitation or brownfield thermal power plants projects is a plus.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills, capable of coordinating across multi-disciplinary teams.
- Fluency in Kurdish and English is required; Arabic and Turkish are plus.
- Preferred:
- Knowledge of EPC contract structures
- Certification in project management (PMP, PRINCE2) or planning (PSP, CCP) is an advantage.
- Experience with risk management tools and techniques.
