Airline Catering Operations Manager

Job Description:

The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the air catering department at the airport. This role ensures that all catering services are executed efficiently, with a focus on quality, timeliness, and safety, meeting the demands of airlines and airport regulations. The position requires strong leadership skills, the ability to manage multiple teams across shifts, and exceptional organizational and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operational Oversight: Manage and coordinate the entire air catering operation, ensuring the timely preparation and delivery of in-flight meals and services.
  • Shift Management: Supervise a team across three shifts (9 hours per shift), ensuring smooth transitions and continuous operations throughout the day and night.
  • Staff Leadership: Lead and motivate a diverse team of staff members, including kitchen workers, logistics personnel, and support staff, to maintain a high level of productivity and morale.
  • Quality Control: Implement and enforce quality control measures to ensure all products meet airline specifications and health and safety regulations.
  • Logistics Coordination: Oversee the logistics of meal deliveries to aircraft, ensuring all flights are serviced on time, within budget, and with the highest quality standards.
  • Safety & Compliance: Ensure that all safety protocols and food safety regulations are adhered to in accordance with airport and airline standards.
  • Communication: Maintain consistent communication with airline clients, airport authorities, and internal departments, particularly through email, to address issues, requests, or changes in service.
  • Problem-Solving: Proactively identify and resolve operational challenges, ensuring minimal disruptions to service.
  • Reporting: Prepare and submit operational reports, including shift summaries, resource allocation, and performance metrics.
  • Training & Development: Ensure continuous training for staff on operational procedures, health and safety, and customer service.

Shift Structure:

The Operations Manager will oversee three shifts:

Morning Shift: 7:30 AM - 4:30 PM

Afternoon Shift: 4:30 PM - 12:30 AM

Night Shift: 12:30 AM - 8:30 AM

Each shift is 9 hours, and the Operations Manager is responsible for ensuring adequate staffing and smooth handovers between shifts.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Proven experience in operations management, preferably in air catering or a related industry.
  • Strong understanding of food safety regulations, quality control, and catering logistics.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, particularly via email, to coordinate with clients, staff, and management.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment and maintain attention to detail.
  • Flexible and able to manage shifting schedules and operational demands.
